CVE-2026-44168Network attack vector

Remote command execution via unsafe SST interpolation

Published Jun 12, 2026 · Updated Jun 12, 2026

OS command injection in affected MariaDB Server releases allows remote authenticated users to execute shell commands on donor nodes. The donor-side wsrep_sst_mariabackup script interpolates joiner-supplied SST parameters, including certificate CommonName data, into a command line without proper validation. Exploitation requires a malicious Galera cluster joiner and the mariabackup SST method; successful commands run in the donor-side SST process context.
