Resource exhaustion in Fluentd fluent-plugin-s3 0.7.0 through 1.8.4 allows remote authenticated users to crash Fluentd via S3 objects. The in_s3 extractors append each decompressed gzip, lzma2, or lzop chunk to an in-memory string without enforcing a size limit. Exploitation requires permission to upload an object to the monitored S3 bucket; excessive expansion can trigger an operating-system out-of-memory kill and interrupt all log collection on the node.
