CVE-2026-44097Network attack vector

Authenticated storage exhaustion via unrestricted firmware upload

Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026

Unrestricted file upload in Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3xxx firmware before 1.9.1 allows remote authenticated users to exhaust storage. The update2-upload REST endpoint accepts user-supplied firmware files without proper validation and stores attacker-controlled content persistently. Operator access is sufficient; repeated uploads can consume finite appliance storage and interrupt charging-controller service.
