Root command execution via unsafe udhcpc sudo rule
Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026
OS command injection in Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3xxx firmware before 1.9.1 allows local users to run arbitrary commands as root. The sudo policy permits the low-privilege charx-web account to run udhcpc with root privileges even though the binary can perform unsafe actions. Exploitation requires existing local code execution as charx-web and grants complete control of the charging controller.
