Arbitrary code execution via shell-embedded volume path
Published May 21, 2026 · Updated May 21, 2026
OS command injection in Netatalk 3.1.0 through 4.4.2 allows local users with administrative privileges to execute arbitrary code. Spotlight service setup embeds an administrator-configured volume path inside a single-quoted shell command without safely handling quote characters. Exploitation requires influence over afp.conf volume paths and occurs during service startup or reconfiguration; AFP requests alone cannot reach it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
