Exploit mitigation loss via disabled compiler fortification
Published May 21, 2026 · Updated May 21, 2026
Protection mechanism failure in Netatalk 3.1.2 through 4.4.2 disables fortification checks in the MySQL CNID backend. The MySQL CNID source module explicitly disables FORTIFY_SOURCE, preventing compiler-added runtime buffer checks for that module. The backend must be compiled and used, and Netatalk states that the missing hardening is not independently exploitable or associated with direct confidentiality, integrity, or availability impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
