CVE-2026-44062Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via charset buffer overflow

Published May 21, 2026 · Updated May 21, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in Netatalk 2.0.4 through 4.4.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via crafted path data. In pull_charset_flags(), charset conversion can let the remaining output length underflow and then write a two-byte UCS-2 slash or colon beyond the output buffer. An authenticated AFP client must reach unusual conversion states with long filenames or paths; resulting memory corruption can execute code or crash the service.
