Host command execution via cross-realm array setter
Published May 13, 2026 · Updated May 13, 2026
Sandbox escape in Patrik Simek vm2 before 3.11.2 allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the host via sandboxed JavaScript. neutralizeArraySpeciesBatch invokes a sandbox-installed setter on Array.prototype while handling cross-realm objects, exposing host objects and the host Function constructor. Exploitation requires an application to run attacker-controlled code inside a vm2 sandbox; success grants the host process user's command privileges.
