CVE-2026-43980Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped MQTT node names

Published Aug 21, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026

Stored XSS in Malla allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in dashboard visitors' browsers through crafted MQTT node names. The capture service stores MQTT long_name and short_name values in SQLite, and four dashboard views insert them into the DOM without escaping. Participation on a public Meshtastic MQTT broker is sufficient; opening an affected dashboard executes the stored payload, enabling phishing, redirects, third-party script injection, browser resource abuse, or persistent dashboard denial of service.
