CVE-2026-43943Network attack vector

Code execution via shell-interpolated editor filename

Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026

OS command injection in electerm before 3.7.9 allows attackers to execute code when a user opens an SFTP file in an external editor. The openFile function interpolates the local filename into PowerShell, open, or xdg-open shell commands without escaping metacharacters. Exploitation requires control of the SSH server or local filename and user selection of the system or custom editor; commands run with that user's privileges.
