Organization vault deletion via unconfirmed owner status
Published May 11, 2026 · Updated May 11, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Vaultwarden before 1.35.5 allows remote authenticated users to delete an organization's entire vault. The POST /api/ciphers/purge endpoint uses plain request headers and verifies the Owner membership type without requiring Confirmed status. Exploitation requires an accepted owner invitation and a normal authenticated session, and it hard-deletes every organization cipher and attachment.
