CVE-2026-43909Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application crash via wrapped DPX loop index

Published May 14, 2026 · Updated May 14, 2026

Integer overflow in OpenImageIO before 3.0.18.0, and from 3.1.4.0-beta up to but excluding 3.1.13.0, allows attackers to crash apps via crafted DPX files. SwapRGBABytes multiplies a signed 32-bit loop index by four and uses the wrapped negative result as an input and output pointer offset. Exploitation requires an application or user to process a very large kABGR DPX image; the demonstrated result is a crash, while preceding-buffer writes are also possible.
