Process crash via wrapped pixel-loop offset
Published May 14, 2026 · Updated May 14, 2026
Heap out-of-bounds write in OpenImageIO before 3.0.18.0 or 3.1.4.0-beta through 3.1.12.0 allows attackers to crash image-processing applications. ConvertCbYCrYToRGB() multiplies a signed 32-bit pixel-loop index by three and uses the wrapped negative result as an output-buffer pointer offset while decoding a crafted DPX 4:2:2 image. Exploitation requires an application or user to read pixel data from an extremely large crafted file; the demonstrated consequence is an unconditional process crash after roughly 715 million pixels.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
