Authenticated document disclosure via mixed share authorization
Published May 11, 2026 · Updated May 11, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Outline before 1.7.0 allows remote authenticated users to publish documents they cannot legitimately share. The shares.create handler persists unpublished shares with both collectionId and documentId after read-only checks, while shares.update accepts share permission on either resource. Read access to the target document and share permission on an unrelated collection suffice to expose the document to unauthenticated users.
