CVE-2026-43869Network attack vectorHinoki check available

TLS endpoint impersonation via missing hostname verification

Published May 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 26, 2026

Certificate validation in Apache Thrift before 0.23.0 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to impersonate trusted TLS endpoints. The Java TSSLTransportFactory createClient method creates an SSLSocket without enabling endpoint identification, so the handshake accepts a trusted certificate whose CN or SAN does not match the requested host. Network-positioned attackers with a certificate trusted by the client can intercept or alter Thrift RPC traffic; other language bindings are not identified as affected.
