Denial of service or memory disclosure via overflow
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Integer overflow in Spotlight in Apple macOS before 27 allows attackers to cause denial of service or disclose memory via a crafted file. Spotlight processes attacker-controlled file data without sufficient integer validation, allowing an arithmetic result to overflow during parsing. The crafted file must be processed on the Mac; Apple reports only service interruption and memory-content exposure as consequences.
