Code execution via AppleDouble buffer overflow
Published Jul 27, 2026 · Updated Jul 27, 2026
Buffer overflow in AppleDouble in Apple iOS, iPadOS, and macOS allows attackers to execute code by processing a maliciously crafted file. Apple has disclosed only that AppleDouble performed insufficient bounds checking while handling the file; no vulnerable function or file field is public. Exploitation requires user interaction with the file, and unsuccessful exploitation can instead terminate the processing application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
