Authentication bypass via unknown-user null digest
Published May 12, 2026 · Updated May 12, 2026
DIGEST authentication bypass in affected Apache Tomcat releases allows remote attackers to access protected resources as unknown users. RealmBase.getDigest converts a missing realm password into the literal null value within the A1 digest instead of rejecting the unknown username. Reachability requires DIGEST authentication, and access remains bounded by the resources and role constraints applied to the authenticated request.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.1.0-M1 <=10.1.54
