Remote service hang via leaked receive counter
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux Kernel xprtrdma transport allows remote attackers to hang transport shutdown during memory pressure. The rpcrdma_post_recvs() early-return paths fail to decrement ep->re_receiving after receive work-request creation fails, so rpcrdma_xprt_drain() waits for a completion that never occurs. Reachability requires RPC-over-RDMA activity and an early receive-posting exit, such as an allocation failure under high memory pressure; the bounded result is a hung transport-drain worker.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
