CVE-2026-43448

Local system crash via IRQ-vector race

Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026

Race condition in the Linux Kernel NVMe PCI driver allows local users to crash the system during concurrent device reset handling. nvme_poll_irqdisable() resolves the IRQ separately for disable_irq() and enable_irq(), while nvme_dev_disable() can switch the device from MSI-X to INTx between those calls. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and a narrow overlap between an NVMe timeout and reset, producing unbalanced IRQ accounting and a kernel crash.
