Kernel crash via disabled-IPv6 bonding validation
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux Kernel allows remote attackers to crash the kernel via a crafted IPv6 NS/NA frame. With IPv6 disabled, nd_tbl remains uninitialized, but bond_rcv_validate dispatches the frame through bond_validate_na to ipv6_chk_addr. Reachability requires the ipv6.disable=1 boot parameter, enabled bonding ARP/NS validation, and receipt of the frame on a bond slave; the reported consequence is a kernel crash.
