Kernel memory exhaustion via user-fence leak
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Memory leak in Linux Kernel 6.18 before 6.18.20, 6.19 before 6.19.9, and 7.0-rc1 allows local users to exhaust kernel memory. The xe_sync_entry_parse error path returns after dma_fence_chain_alloc fails without releasing the user-fence reference obtained earlier. Low-privileged local access to DRM/Xe user-fence requests is required; repetition consumes kernel memory, but published sources do not identify a hang or crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
