Remote file corruption via in-place retry encryption

Data corruption in the Linux kernel SMB client allows remote attackers to corrupt writes through encrypted SMB shares after reconnects. SMB2_write() stores payloads in pointer-shared rq_iov entries, so crypt_message() overwrites plaintext in place and a replayable error resends ciphertext as file data. The victim must use and write to an encrypted SMB share; ordinary synchronous writes are exposed before 6.10, while later kernels expose SFU and Minshall-French special-file operations.
