System crash via incomplete hypervisor memory reservation

Improper memory reservation in the Linux kernel allows remote attackers to crash Qualcomm Monaco-based systems during memory use. The Monaco device tree reserves only 288 KiB of the 512 KiB Gunyah metadata region, so the page allocator treats hypervisor-owned PFNs as conventional memory and can allocate them. The condition is limited to affected arm64 Monaco platforms; a later kernel access to an allocated PFN causes a fatal Synchronous External Abort and kernel crash.
