Local privilege escalation via thermal-zone use-after-free

Use-after-free in the Linux Kernel thermal core allows local users to execute code with kernel privileges through a registration race. The thermal_zone_device_register_with_trips() error path frees the thermal-zone object without waiting for a user-held kobject reference to reach thermal_release(). A low-privileged user can retain that sysfs reference during a failed registration, causing kernel memory disclosure, corruption, or a panic.
