CVE-2026-43290

Kernel memory corruption via unreleased UVC buffers

Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026

Improper buffer handling in Linux Kernel 6.17 through 6.18.15 and 6.19 through 6.19.5 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory. The uvc_start_streaming_video error path returns directly when uvc_pm_get fails, leaving queued buffers referenced after videobuf2 reclaims them. Triggering requires low-privileged access to a UVC video device and a power-management failure during stream start; stale references can expose or overwrite kernel memory or crash the system.
