Local kernel crash via unchecked netdevice lookup
Published May 6, 2026 · Updated May 6, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux Kernel ionic RDMA driver allows local users to crash the system by querying an unavailable port netdevice. ionic_query_port calls ib_device_get_netdev and dereferences its unchecked NULL return when no network device is available. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and an enabled ionic RDMA driver; the documented impact is a kernel crash without data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
