Local kernel crash via V4L2 error cleanup
Published May 6, 2026 · Updated May 6, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux Kernel allows local users to crash the system through failed V4L2 sub-device matching. The v4l2_async_match_notify() error path can remove the same connection twice, while v4l2_async_unbind_subdev_one() dereferences asc->sd before that field is assigned. Triggering the fault requires low-privilege local access and a failure during asynchronous media-subdevice binding; the documented consequence is an availability-only kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
