Local kernel memory corruption via double unpin
Published May 6, 2026 · Updated May 6, 2026
Double free in the Linux Kernel RDMA/umem path allows local users to corrupt kernel memory after a dma-buf page-map failure. ib_umem_dmabuf_get_pinned_with_dma_device() immediately unpins the dma-buf when ib_umem_dmabuf_map_pages() fails but leaves the pinned flag set, so ib_umem_release() reaches ib_umem_dmabuf_revoke() and unpins it again. Low-privileged local access and a failed RDMA dma-buf page mapping are required; the published record does not specify whether exploitation ends in a crash or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
