CVE-2026-42890

Local code execution via enabled Electron fuse

Published Jun 12, 2026 · Updated Jun 12, 2026

Code injection in Actual before 26.5.0 allows local users to execute Node.js code through the signed macOS application binary. The packaged Electron binary leaves the runAsNode fuse enabled, so ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE=1 makes Actual.app accept a script as a Node.js process. Exploitation requires control of local launch arguments or a file placed for execution; code runs with Actual’s signature and entitlements while bypassing Gatekeeper payload review.
