CVE-2026-42812Network attack vector

Cloud storage access via unchecked metadata path

Published May 4, 2026 · Updated May 4, 2026

Improper access control in Apache Polaris before 1.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to write metadata to allowed storage paths. The commit path skips location revalidation when only write.metadata.path changes, so Polaris writes metadata before checking the selected location. Credential access additionally requires unstructured table locations to be enabled and the chosen path to fall within allowedLocations, exposing or corrupting reachable storage data.
