Storage access escalation via unvalidated staged locations
Published May 4, 2026 · Updated May 4, 2026
Missing authorization in Apache Polaris before 1.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to obtain credentials for unauthorized storage locations. The staged-create path constructs delegated credentials from caller-controlled location, write.data.path, or write.metadata.path values before location and overlap checks. Table-creation permission and credential vending are required, and access is bounded by storage reachable through the catalog's configured role.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
