Remote code execution via crawl configuration injection
Published May 9, 2026 · Updated May 9, 2026
Argument injection in ArchiveBox 0.8.6rc0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted /add/ configuration. AddView merges config JSON into crawl settings without validation; plugin hooks export the values as environment variables, and yt-dlp appends YTDLP_ARGS_EXTRA to its command. Unauthenticated access requires PUBLIC_ADD_VIEW=True; otherwise endpoint access requires an authenticated user, and successful exploitation runs code on the server.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
