CVE-2026-42538Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unrestricted HTML uploads

Published Jun 4, 2026 · Updated Jun 4, 2026

Stored XSS in DFIR-IRIS iris-web before 2.4.28 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through uploaded HTML files. The datastore upload endpoint accepts HTML content without fully validating its type and later serves that active content from the trusted IRIS origin. An authenticated account must upload the file and persuade another user to open its link, enabling phishing or credential theft in that user's browser.
