CVE-2026-42510Network attack vector

Authenticated command injection via IPMI console activation

Published Apr 28, 2026 · Updated Apr 28, 2026

Command injection in OpenStack Ironic affected releases before 35.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands on conductors. The IPMI console backends place project-manager-controlled node data into an ipmitool console command that the conductor executes on activation without safely isolating command arguments. Reachability requires project-manager access to a node.owner project and non-default enablement of ipmitool-shellinabox or ipmitool-socat; injected commands run with conductor service privileges.
