CVE-2026-42498Network attack vector

Credential disclosure via cross-host redirect header reuse

Published May 12, 2026 · Updated May 12, 2026

Information disclosure in affected Apache Tomcat releases allows remote attackers to read WebSocket authentication credentials. WsWebSocketContainer retains the latest Authorization header in userProperties and reuses it when following an HTTP redirect to another host. Exploitation requires an authenticated WebSocket client request followed by an attacker-controlled cross-host redirect, which exposes the reusable header to that host.
