Application interruption via unchecked geometry bounds and recursion
Published May 1, 2026 · Updated May 1, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads and recursion flaws in OCCT 8.0.0-rc5 allow local users to interrupt applications through crafted IGES or STEP files. Geom2d_BSplineCurve::EvalD0 and MakeBSplineCurveCommon access B-spline pole or knot arrays without sufficient bounds validation, while StepShape_OrientedEdge::EdgeStart recursively follows a self-reference without cycle detection. Reachability requires a consuming application to parse attacker-controlled geometry; the documented outcomes are process crashes or stack exhaustion, while the CNA also reports unintended memory disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
