Authenticated TOTP bypass via unrestricted temporary JWT
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in Termix before 2.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to obtain full sessions without completing TOTP. The createAuthMiddleware function accepts pendingTOTP temporary JWTs on ordinary authenticated routes, including the backup-code endpoint. An attacker needs a valid password for a TOTP-enabled account; the token can regenerate backup codes, and one code completes login with full API access.
