Client-side memory corruption via unbounded LUT tokens
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
Stack buffer overflow in OpenColorIO before 2.5.2 allows attackers to corrupt process memory by supplying a crafted .spi3d LUT file. FileFormatSpi3D.cpp parses up to 4096 input bytes with unbounded %s conversions into three 64-byte stack buffers, permitting an overwrite of roughly 4000 bytes. Exploitation requires a user or user-initiated tool to load the file; the overflow can crash the process or compromise its confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
