SMF crash via unknown Diameter session assertion
Published Mar 16, 2026 · Updated Mar 16, 2026
Improper resource handling in Open5GS 2.7.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash the SMF with a crafted Diameter CCA message. The CCA callbacks assert that fd_msg_sess_get found an existing session, so an unknown or mismatched Session-Id calls ogs_abort instead of rejecting the message. Network access to an SMF Diameter interface is sufficient; the process abort drops all active UE sessions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
