CVE-2026-42399Network attack vector

Authenticated service crash via chained Timelion functions

Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Elastic Kibana 8.0.0 through 8.19.15 and 9.0.0 through 9.3.4 allows remote authenticated users to crash Kibana. When it evaluates deeply chained function calls, Timelion builds an exponentially growing data structure without bounding its memory allocation. Any low-privileged account with Timelion access can exhaust available memory, terminating Kibana and interrupting service for all users.
