Pre-auth code execution via unchecked username copy
Published May 4, 2026 · Updated May 4, 2026
Stack overflow in GeoVision GV-VMS 20.0.2 WebCam Server Login allows remote attackers to execute code via an unauthenticated HTTP request. The login logger passes the request's id username to strcpy without a length check, copying it into a fixed stack buffer and permitting return-address overwrite. WebCam Server must be enabled and reachable; successful exploitation runs code as SYSTEM on the Windows host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
