Unauthenticated directory disclosure via unvalidated STAC paths
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Path traversal in geopython pygeoapi 0.23.0 through 0.23.2 allows remote attackers to read directories through STAC collection requests. FileSystemProvider.get_data_path concatenates the configured data root with an unvalidated dirpath containing .. segments, so filesystem resolution escapes the intended root. Exploitation requires a configured stac-collection resource and direct deployment without a proxy or web front end that normalizes .. URL segments; disclosure is limited to directories readable by the service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
