Request hijacking via inherited HTTP configuration
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Prototype pollution gadgets in Axios 1.0.0 through 1.15.1 allow attackers to hijack outbound Node.js HTTP requests. The HTTP adapter directly reads inherited auth, baseURL, socketPath, beforeRedirect, and insecureHTTPParser values instead of requiring own properties. Exploitation requires another dependency in the same process to pollute Object.prototype; polluted values can inject credentials, redirect requests, reach Unix sockets, execute redirect callbacks, or weaken HTTP parsing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
