Administrator account takeover via stored profile XSS
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Stored XSS in inducer RELATE 2024.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in an administrator's browser. ParticipationAdmin.get_user passes profile-derived names into mark_safe after percent-formatting HTML, bypassing Django escaping. An enrolled student can store script in editable name fields; execution occurs when an administrator opens the participation list, enabling administrator account takeover.
