Persistent administrator takeover via forged token configuration write
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Privilege escalation in Erudika Scoold before 1.67.0 allows remote authenticated users to gain persistent administrator access via a forged token. The ApiController configSet endpoint accepts the token for /api/config/set/admins and writes the supplied email into scoold.admins without validating its jti claim. Access to the admin configuration API is required, and the new privilege becomes active only after Scoold restarts and reloads the ADMINS set.
