CVE-2026-42144

Memory corruption via wrapped PNM dimensions

Published May 4, 2026 · Updated May 4, 2026

Integer overflow in GREYC CImg before commit 4ca26bc allows attackers to corrupt memory by loading a crafted PNM image. The _load_pnm() file-size guard multiplies attacker-controlled width, height, and depth before widening the result to 64 bits, so overflow can make an undersized allocation appear valid. Exploitation requires an application to load an untrusted PNM, PGM, or PPM file and can corrupt heap memory or interrupt that process.
