Authenticated command execution via unsanitized account parameters
Published Mar 16, 2026 · Updated Mar 16, 2026
Command injection in D-Link DNS and DNR appliance firmware through 20260205 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands. The account_mgr.cgi endpoint passes attacker-controlled app values from eleven account-management handlers, including cgi_create_import_users and cgi_user_batch_create, to an OS command without neutralization. A valid administrative web session is required; crafted POST requests can start a shell service and grant command execution on the appliance.
