CVE-2026-42084Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account persistence via interchangeable password and session tokens

Published May 4, 2026 · Updated May 4, 2026

Unverified password change in OpenC3 COSMOS before 6.10.5 and 7.0.0-rc1 through 7.0.0-rc2 allows attackers to seize accounts. AuthModel.set calls verify_no_service in a mode that accepts either the stored password or a session token as old_password. A valid hijacked session token is required; tokens survive a victim's password reset, enabling repeated password changes and account lockout.
