CVE-2026-42046Public exploit

Heap overwrite via wrapped canvas dimensions

Published May 11, 2026 · Updated May 11, 2026

Integer overflow in libcaca 0.99.beta20 and earlier allows attackers to overwrite a heap buffer via a crafted caca-format file. caca_resize accepts dimensions whose 32-bit product wraps to zero, so caca_create_frame allocates a tiny buffer before caca_put_char writes attacker-controlled data past it. A consuming application must import the untrusted file; exploitable allocator and build conditions enable code execution, while other configurations crash.
